Sweden : PhD student position in Pharmaceutical Sciences in the field of Pharmacology

The Department of Pharmaceutical Biosciences pursues research in a number of fields and provides education in biochemistry, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, pharmacotherapy and toxicology. More information about the department and its activities is available at www.farmbio.uu.se.

Project description: The PhD project comprises experimental studies of drug-induced effects on the adolescent brain. The studies will focus on drugs of abuse that adolescents often are exposed to, i.e. alcohol, cannabis and nicotine. Neurobiological and epigenetic studies are used to investigate the mediators and the mechanisms of drug exposure early in life. The purpose is to increase our knowledge about effects of early-life drug use and its consequences for later vulnerability for drug addiction and drug-induced harmful effects on the brain.
